How it works

Nitrates in food

Select the product on the touch screen, insert the probe into the pulp and press Test. In a few seconds the tester shows a numeric nitrate value and compares it with the built-in limit. The result is highlighted in green, orange or red for quick reading.

How Greentest nitrate testers work and how to read the result

How Greentest nitrate testers work and how to read the result

Greentest household devices work as conductivity-based express testers: they analyze the total salt content in a product and help estimate relative nitrate content at the puncture point. For a more reliable household result, test two or three different spots.

  • Select the product on the touch screen, insert the probe into the pulp and press Test
  • First result in 5 seconds
  • The device shows a numeric value and a color rating: green, orange or red
  • For better accuracy, make 2-3 punctures in different areas

Products included in the device menu

All Greentest devices, regardless of price and feature set, include the same product database for household nitrate screening. The accuracy is sufficient for a practical everyday decision: eat or avoid, buy or skip. In addition to vegetables, fruit, berries and mushrooms, the devices also check fresh meat or fish.

Before you buy

Frequently asked questions about Greentest

Short answers to the questions customers usually ask before choosing a nitrate tester or eco tester.

Do I need to look up nitrate limits myself?

No. Greentest already has a product database and built-in limits. Select the product, run the measurement and read the color prompt.

How long does a product check take?

After selecting the product and inserting the probe, the result appears in about 3 seconds. Follow the on-screen instruction for a correct measurement.

Which model should I choose for home?

For nitrate checks only, Greentest 2 is enough. If you also want water testing, consider Greentest 3 or ECO 6F. If you need a dosimeter, choose ECO 4F or ECO 6F.

What warranty applies to Greentest devices?

Greentest devices come with an official 12-month warranty. Service support is provided by Sorbpolymer, including warranty and post-warranty repairs.

Why can a second test in the same puncture differ?

The previous puncture has already released juice and changed contact conditions. For a repeat test, make a new puncture nearby.

Why can home-grown vegetables show a high result?

Freshly harvested vegetables and fruit can contain more nitrates. Fertilizers, the tested part of the product and the way it is eaten also affect the practical interpretation.
